- Tamarindo Beach — the area's main surf spot, with a long sandy stretch and dozens of surf schools.
- Las Baulas National Marine Park — a nesting site for the world's largest leatherback sea turtles, in season from October to March.
- Neighbouring Playa Grande — broad and calm, ideal for long sunset walks and birdwatching.
- Tamarindo Estuary — a mangrove lagoon home to monkeys, coatis, herons and crocodiles, explored on kayak or boat tours.
