  • Lotus Pond Park is a string of temples and pavilions with photogenic Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, which visitors enter through one mouth and leave through the other.
  • Qijin Island is a narrow beach peninsula opposite the city, with a lighthouse, seafood restaurants and old fishing lanes — reached by a short ferry.
  • The Pier-2 Art Center is a complex of former port warehouses turned into galleries, studios, cafés and street-art spaces.
  • Love River is the city's main waterfront — lit at night, with boat rides and waterside cafés.

Museer

  • Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts (KMFA) is southern Taiwan's largest art gallery, set in an extensive sculpture park.
  • Kaohsiung Museum of History, in the former city hall, traces the transformation of the town from a fishing village into the country's largest port.
  • The Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum, with a giant gilded Buddha statue, is one of Asia's largest Buddhist complexes, about an hour from the city centre.

  • Liuhe Night Market is Kaohsiung's most famous — seafood, tropical fruit, shaved ice with papaya and streets full of aromas.
  • The light-rail tram runs along the harbour and the Pier-2 area — an easy way to circle the waterfront with views of old cranes and containers.
  • Cheng-Ching Lake Park, with its lake, pagodas and bridges, is the city's quiet «country retreat» for picnics and bike rides.
